Chile & Argentina both offer strong hockey & rugby as well as warm hospitality and lots of outdoor activities to make your tour memorable. A tour to Argentina is not complete with a visit to a Tango Show, a Gaucho ranch to watch a demonstration and sample the BBQ and finally a visit to Iguazu Falls. If you are feeling really brave then the Andes crossing between Chile and Argentina offers some of the most spectacular scenery you will ever see.
BUENOS AIRES
Buenos Aires has its own style. 11 million “porteños” live in it. They drink wine made in the foothills of the Andean range; eat beef from cows fed on Pampa pastures and lamb from Patagonia. Extraordinary buildings, the product of a well-defined European heritage, give it a singular personality, where different architectural styles such as Neo-Gothic, French and Italian live in harmony with modern crystal towers. Buenos Aires offers tourists many interesting sights, entertainment, restaurants, sports facilities, nightlife – indeed much that will make them want to return.
TIGRE
Just 30km from the Federal District, the Tigre´s city port is one access that let you know the Delta of Paraná River, a group of islands a nd rivers that will show you an attractive natural landscape, ideal for recreation, rowing, water-skiing, sailing and fishing. You will sail through its rivers and channels by boat. The tour also visits the residential Northern area of the outskirts of Buenos Aires, where the Presidential Residence is located. Don’t miss the handcraft market and a walk along the riverside.
MENDOZA
Mendoza, ¨the land of the sun and the good wine¨, is situated on the long road from Buenos Aires to Santiago de Chile, between the imposing bastions of the pre-Cordillera and the vast Eastern deserts. Mendoza remains one of the most pleasant capitals in the country with trolleybuses still seen on the streets. CORDOBA
Cordoba rivals Rosario as the second most important city in the country. Its rhythm of life is tempered by its inhabitants, a more peaceful lot than the ¨porteños¨ and possessed of a caustic sense of humour. It is possible that this province offers most to tourists with its beautiful varied landscape of valleys and hills. The city has a heritage of colonial architecture that justifies a visit.
ROSARIO
It is the second most important city in Argentina, together with Córdoba, and it is located on the Parana River banks. It is also one of the most important commercial and industrial centres in the pampas. From its harbours, it exports many of the agricultural products of the region, which is one of the most fertile in the world. Rosario has a beautiful riverfront lined with the typical “palo borracho” trees (drunk stick) and the historical Monument to the Flag. On the banks of the river there is a small port, a park, sports facilities and restaurants.
IGUAZU FALLS & IGUAZU NATIONAL PARK
These are some of the most spectacular falls in the world. The Iguazú River throws an average of 1700 cubic metres of water per second along 275 falls spread in half-moon over
2,7 km. Almost all are in Argentine territory, since the border cuts through the Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat), a gorge 150m wide by 700m long. To get a good view of the whole, you should cross over to Brazil, but to get a close look at the falls and the amazing flora and fauna, you should stay on the Argentine side.
